a beach cottage makeover and a new paint

helloooo from Sydney ladies of beach cottage land, how you going, I am a busy bee here, but I did get time recently to do a little bit of making over, there is nearly always time in my life for an old piece of furniture and a pot of paint you know ;)

Funny really I picked up this pot cupboard for pennies, and ahem, popped it downstairs under the house so no-one would know. Well circumstances recently have meant that my little (ok we all know it’s large) stash of goodies of the vintage shabby furniture kind have been discovered, rooted through and I have been told in no uncertain terms that I need to lighten the load of vintage home things. Hmmm.
So this one was a question of go to Vinnies or keep for me? I have to say I was unsure, I mean the colour was pretty horrific, the door is broken and falling off the hinges (love that though) and there’s no drawer, I don’t know though, good bones I thought and nice shape. A bit bashed up too, love that. I thought grey would be nice and tried out a new to me paint – this is Porter’s Chalk Paint (not sponsored, I am posting it because it’s good) - and I loved it. I think I have written before on this here blog that I have no time for paint snobbery (or rather paint brand snobbery), to be quite frank it irritates me a lot that even paint, in this world that we live in is bothered with what label is on the front of the can. Anyway, I get paint from all sorts of places at all sorts of prices, but I really wanted to have a go at a chalk paint made in Australia, because, guess what, I love Australia (you didn’t know that did you, haha) and I love to try out Aussie made products where I can.
Well this is good – better than the other chalk paints on the market? Well, who knows I am certainly no expert and I am of the slap it on school of painting and sometimes I do have the odd droop or two (remember that troll and the droop, roflmao still at that every time I do a post on paint), but yeah this is just really nice and matte and vintage-y and well just works. Love it when things just work, don’t you? Though it has been mentioned to be as I walked past and stroked this baby that one is not much use if one does not have drawers, I dunno I always thought it was quite a good thing to be drawer-less ;) I’ll see you soon.
