A Guide to Feeling Confident in Your Clothes

Feeling confident in your clothes is the key to looking absolutely incredible. It doesn’t matter how nice your outfit is; if you don’t feel right in it, you won’t look as good. It’s simple! So how can you make sure you feel confident?

Follow this advice:

Make Sure You’re Comfortable

The first thing you need to do is make sure you feel comfortable in your outfits. This isn’t just in the physical sense of the word, but in the mental sense too. If you feel like you want to keep covering up your tummy by folding your arms or pulling down your skirt, it won’t give off a comfortable or confident impression. You need to feel totally comfortable in what you’re wearing in order to feel confident. Bear in mind this doesn’t mean you can wear baggy trousers and a top 4 times too big for you.

Get Colourful

Colour is a great way to channel confidence. The colour red is said to be the most confident looking colour, but you don’t need to stick to red. Wear any colours you like! Neutrals are nice sometimes, but you shouldn’t stick to the same colours constantly. It’s boring! Wear your favourite colours. If you’re scared, try wearing something in a bright colour in winter and toning it down with neutrals. It’ll be much less scary. Come summer, you’ll be ready to dress head to toe in colour!

Make Sure Your Clothes Fit Well

Your clothes should fit you. There are the odd exceptions; for example, when you’re wearing a baggy top for fashion and layering purposes. However, wearing clothes to cover yourself up rather than for fashion purposes is completely out of the question. Your clothes need to fit you!

Play Up Your Favourite Areas

What are your favourite areas? Perhaps you have a pair of legs to die for. Show them off! Wear a looser jumper with some tight fitting jeans, or in summer, make sure you have plenty of pairs of shorts. If you show off your favourite areas, you’ll always look and feel confident. Just make sure you don’t flash too much flesh at one time.

Use Body Type as a Guideline

You can always use body type as a guideline if you’re stuck on what suits you. Bear in mind you don’t have to stick to these if you don’t want to. Gok Wan is great at dressing ladies in what suits them best. Try it and see what you think, you might pick up some useful tips.

Fake it Till You Make it!

If you struggle with confidence anyway, the best tip I can give you is ‘fake it till you make it’. Pretend you have oodles of confidence, and eventually it will begin to show. Your brain will start to believe that you really are confident from all of that pretending! Clever, huh?

If you want to look great at all times, confidence is key. Use these tips and you might just start to feel differently about yourself and your style!
