Why I Write

The month of May I’m going to be kicking it with some old school blogging with Slightly Off Kilter and Food Good Laundry Bad. There is a topic for everyday and if you want to join in the fun feel free to visit their post and link up.

Why I Write

Would you like to hear why I use to write or why I write now? Allow me to tell you how I began. My writing process started with product reviews and my goal was to give you the best intertwined story that I could about a product that would be used by our family. As things began to happen in my personal life my writing became more therapeutic. It was nice to know that there were other parents struggling with the same things or at least could relate to what I was saying at the time.

My writing began to focus on physical fitness and trying to lose that after baby weight. After a while my content became more about challenges, races and workout gear product updates, recipes and music. In the meantime my blog kept going through transitions. The idea of finding that niche and really simmering down the content and focusing on what I really enjoyed became important.

How to tips and quick fixes became my primary focus because let’s face it, there is always something to fix on your blog or social media account. At the end of last year my grandmother was in the hospital. All of sudden nothing was as important and choices needed to be made about how my time was being spent. Sadly everything that I had worked so hard for like traffic, numbers, etc., suffered and it was a bit deflating.

Now when I write it’s to convey useful information or something I really want my audience to know about. There is a lot less fluff and more meaty content if you will. I’m still cleaning up years worth of posts in the back end and it will take me a great deal of time to clean out the vault. For now that’s why I write!

What about you? Ever have a life event cause you to step away for a while? Let me know in the comments.
