Roaccutane diary: week 25

Goodbye Roaccutane! It’s been a long, emotional journey but I’m pleased to say I’m now rid of you after taking my last couple of tablets on Saturday.

Although I was quite apprehensive of Roaccutane before I started taking it, I’m glad I did. Just look how much my acne has cleared up since the beginning of this year. I almost don’t recognise myself.

As you can probably see, I still have a few scars that need sorting, but anything is better than looking like that ‘before’ picture! I used to wear so much make-up and had to use the softest towel or cloth possible to dry my face without it bleeding. I refused to leave the house without make-up and hid away from having my photo taken as I didn’t want to be pictured like that. Now I feel like I have so much freedom!

As far as the Roaccutane is concerned, it apparently stays in your body for about 6 weeks, so I guess it is still going to be doing its job for a while. For some reason, my skin has got a a bit drier around my lips and nose again, but that may be because of this awful windy and wet weather we’ve been having.

I’ve got a follow-up appointment with the dermatologist in mid-September, so we’ll see if it changes before then.
