Baby Showers are of course wonderful moments in a mothers life where they can celebrate a child becoming a part of their family with family and friends.
Adoption can sometimes make having a Baby Shower Complicated but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done!
I was blessed with a Surprise Adoption Shower and was thrilled to feel the love and support from those that supported us as we waited to be matched for our first adoption.
Before you race off to check out all the beautiful photo’s below let me suggest a few idea’s of my own.
I LOVE the idea of making an Adoption Shower based on a storybook character and there are some GREAT QUOTES from childhood characters that could help you create a fantastic adoption party theme.
DUMBLEDORE: It matters not what someone is born but what they grow to be.
WINNIE THE POOH: As soon as we saw you we knew an adventure was going to happen.
THE LORAX: Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, It’s not.
LILO & STITCH: Ohana means family, family means nobody get’s left behind or forgotten.
Alright….go ahead,
Chickabug – Had Party Favors that were travel journals wrapped in cellophane & had a tag monogrammed with child’s initial.
The Happy Home Fairy – Handed out small bags of mints, attached was a paper with the child’s dedication bible verse on it as a reminder for prayer every time a mint was eaten.
The Mac’s – Gave out Fortune Cookies with Globes attached.
Slow Mama – Handed out small bags of Chocolate Covered Pomegranates with a sweet Tag attached saying “Precious Cargo”.
The Party Wagon – The Party Favor’s were sealed with a photo sticker of their child’s referral photo.
Water Water Everywhere – Handed out Chocolate Bars wrapped in a pretty label that said “Vanessa thinks the world of you, Thanks for coming”.
Check out PicMonkey! They are my Favorite FREE online program that I use often to make unique printables.
The bonus is that they are super easy to use.

I have always loved children’s books and found that they were also a great gift to receive as a new parent.
Need Idea’s for some great Adoption Themed Childrens Books? Check out my post that lists 25 Top Adoption Books. Any of them would make a thoughtful gift for an Adoption Shower.
Or books for adoptive parents such as Twenty Things Adopted Kids Wish Their Adoptive Parents Knew
This book is a Memory book for Adoptive Families – How cool is that!?!
Definitely something I would have loved to receive as an Adoption Shower Gift.
Bethany at the Happy Homemaker Me has a beautiful solution to this by giving the gift of money in a beautiful mason jar with a special message attached.
Other Financial Gift Idea’s would be to make a donation to the orphanage the child was adopted through in their name or even help the adoptive family start an education fund for their child.
Adoption can be very expensive so some Adoptive Families don’t have the extra funds to add to important things such as future educational savings.
If you quilt perhaps you could put a silhouette of the country the child was born from & a silhouette of the country they now live in and stitch them onto the quilt. Put a heart on both countries with a whimsical line going from one heart to the other. Or maybe sew something similar on a pillow?
Or perhaps you could crochet or sew a doll that looks similar to the Adopted Child.
I hope it was helpful and has gotten your mind percolating!
Whatever party you end up throwing or gift you choose to give, remember that the most important thing is that the family sees you supporting them and their choice to adopt.
Love, Celebration & Support!
