Four ways to dress up your jeans

Forget those skimpy bikinis and raunchy leather stage clothes. Rihanna recently shocked diners at swanky LA restaurant Giorgio Baldi when she ditched her risqué wardrobe for something more
conservative. The Grammy-winning singer pulled off a sophisticated look, combining a casual pair of blue skinny jeans with a pale pink tuxedo jacket and black heels. You don’t have to be an A-List celeb to look as smart and glamorous as Rihanna. For everything from an informal job interview to casual drinks with friends, dress up your jeans with these four simple suggestions.

Throw on a blazer

Sharp and chic, the right blazer can smarten up any casual jeans and cuts a more formal figure than a comfy cardigan. Go for a flattering tailored fit, or try a boyfriend blazer for a trendy take. These oversized jackets are hot off the catwalk and a hit with stylish celebs like Beyoncé, Britney and Holly Willoughby.

Choose fabulous footwear

Ditch those muddy trainers for a more glamorous style. Wedges provide a comfortable alternative to high heels and create a refined look that's favoured by such classy fashion icons as the Duchess of Cambridge. However, if you’re perfectly comfortable with sky-scraping stilettos, try the popular gladiator design for an edgy twist that can even make your legs look slimmer.

Come over to the dark side of denim

Pale, ripped and baggy styles are perfect for an edgy streetwear-inspired outfit, but a black or midnight blue tone will give you a more sophisticated look. Create an elegant contrast by teaming with a light top for understated cool.

Get colourful

This doesn't mean you have to stick with blacks and blues - for a more colourful take on dressed-up denim team jeans in bold greens, rich reds or deep purples with a pretty blouse or crisp shirt. Remember to stick with a dark tone and a slim fit for a suitably formal look.
