Festival Journey: Your Guide to Newport, Rhode Island

Who’s excited for the Newport Jazz and Newport Folk Festivals this year? These festivals are near and dear to us at ALEX AND ANI as Newport is where we opened our very first store. It’s definitely one of the many places we love!

Every Rhode Islander knows the ins-and-outs of Newport and we’re here to give you some tips. First, we’ll talk food because we know you’re all looking forward to some authentic Ocean State seafood. We recommend grabbing dinner at Benjamin’s on Thames Street. If you’re feeling adventurous, try something from the raw bar!

For a small harbor town, Newport has an impressive nightlife scene. For a younger crowd, we recommend heading to Dockside and West Deck. These bars are right across from each other on Waite’s Wharf and ideal for a night of bar hopping! For a more sophisticated night out, 41 North is just down the street and has a beautiful view of the harbor.

Now it’s time to truly experience Newport and all of the history it has to offer! A trip to Newport would not be complete without checking out The Cliff Walk. The Cliff Walk was built in 1975 as New England’s first National Recreational Trails. It runs 3.5 miles along the eastern coast of Newport. You’ll get an amazing view of the ocean and also get a glimpse of Newport’s iconic mansions. Straight out of Newport’s Gilded Age, these mansions line the streets of Bellevue Avenue and are absolutely stunning.

We could go on and on about Newport and all that it has to offer! We recommend heading down a day before the festival to take everything in. See you there!
