One Arm Outdoor Sectional Piece

One of my favorite projects I did last year was this 2x4 outdoor sofa that I made for Ryobi at their studio.

Can you believe it's just 2x4s?

Since there was no reasonable way I could check this project in baggage on my flight back to Alaska, I vowed come next summer, I'd make this outdoor sofa for my own home. I loved it that much!

Well, come Mother's Day of this year, when my family asked me what I'd like to do, of course I could think of nothing more fun than getting to work on a project!!!

So I built the sofa ...

And a matching one-arm sectional piece to make a giant sectional!!!

I love love love how this project turned out! It is so solid and comfortable and looks amazing too! It's all just 2x4s too! I used cedar but you could also use regular old 2x4s - just make sure you put a good finish on it (I'd recommend an exterior stain).

I used 25" x 25" x 4" exterior cushions but 24" x 24" would work probably better.

Here's a video showing all the steps (and I ramble on and on and on about cushions and costs and other stuff, sorry) -

And you can find the plans for the full outdoor sofa here and the sectional piece here. But wait!!!!

You can also win some of the tools that I used to build this project!

Just click here to enter!!!

Enjoy the plans, good luck on the tools, and when you build your sofa, please share!!! I'm excited to see how yours turns out too!
