Travel: Humayun's Tomb Delhi

Humayun's Tomb in Delhi, India
I hope you guys are used to my fickleness in posting by now. I still have so much to share from various travels that's why I felt like mixing it up is the best idea. In case you missed previous updates of this series, go here, scroll down to 'India' and you'll find the previous 5 posts. So after visiting our friends in Hyderabad and touring around the city there, my mom and I took an inland flight to Delhi. We then drove down to Agra to see the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort but hey I'm keeping the best for last in this series! So back to Delhi we visited the Palace, Jama Masjid Mosque, Lotus Temple, the Qutab Minar & Humayan's Tomb. Most of those places are only viewable in my postcards. You see while the rest of our trip was very sunny and sometimes a bit too hot, Delhi had to be stubborn with colder air and rain. I didn't always get the time to photograph much or felt like the sky just changed the environment into a sad little puddle of water. Not nice to capture aye.

But luckily for you guys I snapped away quite a lot at Humayan's Tomb. It dates from the 16th century and is the first garden tomb on the Indian grounds. It's mainly built out of red sandstone. The place and building is part of UNESCO World Heritage. There are also some other buildings spread around the gardens, even one tomb which was built 20 years prior Humayan's. You can see it at the end of my photo's. The gardens have gone through several make-overs throughout the year. I do prefer this more green look with taller trees, it gives the whole complex an air of mystery. Complete with the misty sky it provided a cool gloomy atmosphere for my photo's. Random fact: the Taj Mahal is inspired by this tomb. It always seems to me that even back in the day people got their main ideas elsewhere. So what do you think of Humayun's Tomb?
