Stained Glass Painting

Well, maybe not glass exactly, but painted acetate doesn’t quite have the same ring to it. At any rate, I did have fun today playing around with this paint and glue process. Here’s what I did to make this leaf image:

1. Empty glue bottle into old plastic container, add a matching amount of black acrylic paint and mix. Pour back into the glue container using a funnel.

2. Draw a leaf with the glue bottle onto a sheet of acetate. A printed image could be placed underneath to trace, if the shape is rather complicated. Let dry for several hours.

3. Make more glue/paint mixes and fill in areas with a small brush. Don’t worry about keeping it neat as the backside will always have clean black edge. Let dry.

4. Display on wall or window with the backside / shiny side up.
