Cuppa reads

Greetings from Morocco! The Internet ebbed and flowed for me this month in Africa, so when it was decent, I caught up on a bit of reading. Here are some of my favorite gems—pour your cuppa and dive right in.

I looooove that this 90-year-old woman is going back to school. How amazing is she? Going to school with her great-great-grandkids. via BBC

I’ve never read this book, but I really like its premise. Basically, there’s lots of ways to raise a kid—and chances are, they’ll be fine. via The New York Times

• There’s a really high cost to cheap fashion. Here’s a fascinating project with simple-but-powerful images. via Confessions of a Refashionista

What a beautiful story about real marriage this is in this oldie-but-goodie from AoS contributor Katherine Willis-Pershey. via Deeper Story

• We humans tend to have a short-term memory, as seen in the recent joking around on Twitter about wearing bread bags on your feet. I like her recalling of Little House‘s Christmas in this one. via Bloomberg

• Amen and amen to Emily’s thoughts about the spiritual discipline of wearing better pants. via Chatting at the Sky

• I had tears by the time I finished the sweet recalling of AoS contributor Carmella Rayone’s Wednesday ritual of breakfast out with one of her sons. First, breakfast indeed. via Assortment Blog

• And finally, I found this explanation enlightening from a young boy with autism about why it’s hard for him to make eye contact. One of my sons has SPD, and he has a hard time with eye contact as well. Good food for thought. via The Mighty

Have a great weekend!
