stay true

Its so much easier said than done. Staying true to your values, yourself.. others. I've been struggling with this lately when it comes to my business and my tastes in things. Its so easy to be distracted by what others are doing or while searching for inspiration to become influenced in a way that isn't true to my core. Seeing our peers success can either be a drive in determination to carve our own path and achieve something killer or a total fucking shut down, when self-doubt creeps in and the voice of fear that we won't measure up starts to get louder. All I want to do is make cool shit, stay true and be happy. As I get closer to opening my new shop and starting this new journey that I've been dreaming of for so long- these words are what keep me going. Not pins on a board, photos in a social media feed, books people write or anything else out there that is cause for inspiration. Althought I love it, I have to stay true to me because in the end, its what I know best.

Finding ways to stay true can be tough. There is so much influence out there, not really peer pressure, just trends that can sway the real you. The way I stay me is by doing simple things- being home, talking to my mom on the phone, exploring shops by myself, going on long drives, sitting in a coffee shop reading a book.. very simple things that I love which keep me grounded.
