5 Creative Ways to Hang Artwork Without a Frame

You guys know I am all about creative, budget-friendly ideas. They're my favorite. In fact, in most cases I prefer a clever, unexpected solution to the obvious, store-bought one--and it's just a bonus that it happens to save money too. Today, I thought I'd share some of my some of my favorite ways to hang artwork without a frame. I do love frames, but if you're doing a big gallery wall they can definitely add up. So mix in some of these creative ideas with your frames! And P.S. frames don't have to match. I love ornate, vintage ones mixed with clean and modern styles. If you want to keep them more consistent, you can always paint them all the same color!

1. Pant hangers. Use wooden pant hangers to clip up artwork. Add little bit of glitter (or paint) to make them even prettier!

2. Washi tape. This is a popular idea, and a very easy one. Washi tape won't leave a residue on your walls, and it comes in so many fun colors! Whether you use little pieces at each corner like I did with this poster, or create entire "frames" out of them, you can't go wrong.

3. Binder clips. Using binder clips is a great way to quickly put up a poster or art print--and they mix very well with frames too!

4. Clipboards. This is a great idea for an office, or really anywhere. I like clipboards mixed with a gallery wall (like in the top left photo), but you could also hang them in a neat grid as an inspiration wall. It would be very easy to switch out photos as the seasons change or as new inspiration strikes!

5. Driftwood branches. Connect four driftwood branches to make a DIY "frame" that you can prop photos or favorite objects on. Or drill holes through a few branches of similar length, tie string to connect them, and clip photos on with mini clothespins! I just did a post on decorating with branches if you'd like to see more ideas.

Which of these is your favorite? Have you tried any of them, and do you know any other ways to hang artwork without a frame? If so, please share!

P.S. Check out my post on gallery walls for more of my favorite photo display ideas.
