A Replacement Flag for South Carolina

Calls for South Carolina to take down the Confederate flag flying at the state capitol have intensified so much that Gov. Niki Haley and Sen. Lindsey Graham have both flip-flopped (Republicanspeak for changing one's mind) and are now calling for its removal. I hope they do take it down. Individual citizens have every right to display this symbol if they wish to do so; governments should not be doing so on public property.

At the same time, I recognize that having a large empty flag pole at the capitol might look strange and even be considered something of an eyesore. So here is my suggestion for something that would make an excellent replacement flag.

Talk about a symbol that would unite the people! I'm sure there are plenty of fine candidates, but this one gets my vote.
