Dream Affair

It’s been awhile since I’ve written about coldwave on here. It’s not everyday you get to discover a coldwave band worthy of mentioning but I’ve just recently come across Dream Affair who appear to be a cross-Atlantic band, dividing time between NYC and Berlin. No easy feat! By the time this is published, they would have just about concluded their mini tour in Germany. Dream Affair is Hayden on guitars / vocals and Abbey on synths /vocals. Formed in 2009, they already have some pretty solid releases, really staying true to the original coldwave sound when the genre first came out as a darker, French response to the post-punk that was coming out of the UK back in the late 70s. This track seriously reminds me of Asylum Party with the brooding, rolling bassline and that metallic, flanged-out reverb-driven melodic guitars: This one hits in the face like Trisomie 21, especially with those synths.
