“Intense” and “Super Size” Eyes with Covergirl

Disclaimer: PR sample. See bottom.

No matter how happy I am with a mascara, I can’t help myself from sampling the latest/greatest that comes out at the drugstore.

A lot of times the launches coincide with current trends, and I love to stay on top of what’s hot in the beauty world!

The latest of my eye experiments that I’m sharing today is with Covergirl The Super Sizer, as well as the brand’s new eyeliner, Intensify Me! Both of these products are new and not yet in stores, although you can find them on the Covergirl website for sale (more deets on that at the end!).

Both products were introduced to help us create the runway-trendy “statement eye” – a thick cat eye and voluminous lashes – at home.

Check out the wand on the mascara:

The Super Sizer is supposed to “provide bold, corner-to-corner volume for full, fanned out lashes,” according to the packaging, The idea with this wand is that you’re supposed to twirl it as you apply the mascara. First, apply the flat part of the brush to the root of your lashes, depositing product. You can see that there is a lot of mascara on the brush where its flat, too.

Then, using the twirling or rotating motion with it as you brush, deposit and work mascara up your lashes.

If you slowly turn the brush in your hand, you’ll notice that it has a natural twirl to it, like the stripes of a candy cane!

Let’s switch gears for a second!

Here’s a look at the tip of the eyeliner:

Intensify Me! has a paddle-shaped tip to accommodate a thin or thick line look with a rich black liquid liner formula.

Hand swatches of the liner, both ways:

The liner deposits a strong amount of pigment to your lid, with little effort. The above hand swatches are just one quick swipe!

Excited to try both products, I wore them as part of my eye of the day at The Makeup Show NYC on Sunday!

I prefer the thinner line, because with hooded lids, it’s a little harder for me to achieve a great cat eye look. Check it out:

A quick run down of the makeup used for this look, in addition to the mascara and liner:

  • Pixi H20 Skintint in Cream
  • Serenity Scott Pressed Powder Foundation in Fair
  • Laura Geller Baked Blush in Bora Bora
  • Serenity Scott blush in The Hamptons for contouring
  • LA Splash Lip Couture in Rose Garden on lips
  • Ofra Cosmetics Eyeshadow Primer
  • Serenity Scott 9-pan Eye Shadow Palette (collaboration with Samantha Reilly)
  • Serenity Scott Brow Gel in Golden Blonde

The first time I used this mascara, it was a big fail for me. I kept having to take a lash and brow comb to my lashes to try and get them separated, because they were clumping together from how much mascara is deposited at the base of the lashes.

With this look, the mascara was a little easier to apply because I went slow and patiently, understanding the directions. But it didn’t really give me length, and I still had to manipulate my lashes a little bit to get them to a place where I was comfortable. I curled my lashes prior to application, but I feel like you can’t tell with this mascara.

The liner was a breeze to use. I love the control I have with it across my eye, and how the deposit of color is so pigmented.

Both wore fantastic all day, until I took them off at the end of the night, going more than 12 hours. The liner barely smudged in my inner corner, where I usually have smudging/rubbing off.

Of these two products, I really prefer Intensify Me! over The Super Sizer. Mascara is such a personal preference, because everyone has different lashes – mine are thin and not long, while some have long and thick lashes. We all have different needs for our lashes. So this mascara might work for you but I do prefer softer bristles that are a more fluffy brush, giving me more separation, volume and length. Something like Covergirl Flamed Out (a Holy Grail mascara for me!), or even the new Full Lash Bloom, which I recently bought and tried.

According to the brand website, the mascara retails for around $6.85 and the eyeliner for around $8. The mascara is also available in a waterproof formula. Direct links to the product purchase pages are at the top of the post. I’m not sure when we’ll see these in stores.

What do you think? Are The Super Sizer and Intensify Me! two eye goodies that you’ll be trying out when they launch?! I’d love to hear what you think!
