Jane Iredale HandDrink Hand Cream

Disclosure: Press sample. See bottom.

Winter is hitting my skin very hard this year.

Between drinking water for two, the cold and bitter temperatures, and admittedly not maintaining my usual skin care routines, I have dry, flaky facial skin and dry, rough hands.

It’s my hands that bother me most, though. Here’s a peek at the palm of my hand, and fingers:

You can see the dryness, and honestly I’m not sure if the cut on my ring finger knuckle is from the skin cracking open from dryness – I don’t remember getting cut anywhere!

So you can understand that I was relieved when a new hand cream arrived at my door – Jane Iredale HandDrink.

The skinny on HandDrink:

  • Includes botanical extracts (like apple, green tea and blackberry extracts) to help brighten skin and even skin tone as well as nourish and offer antioxidant protection
  • Broad spectrum UV protection (SPF 15) to protect hands from further damage
  • Rose oil to help replenish moisture, leave hands feeling renewed and delicately scented
  • Recommended by The Skin Cancer Foundation as an effective broad spectrum sunscreen.

Here’s the back of the tube:

SO, how did it work?

The first time I used it I felt the rose scent was pretty, but it’s not my particular choice for a hand cream. It’s delicate, but strong.

It’s a white cream, and feels moisturizing as you rub it in:

HandDrink left my hands feeling smooth, and a little velvety to the touch. I love when a hand cream makes my hands feel better without feeling greasy – and this delivers on the non-greasy promise.

The SPF is great for a number of things, including driving without gloves and for use during a gel manicure to protect from UV lights. While I feel safe using UV lights for gel manicures, an SPF hand cream is a great way to add a layer of protection and keep hands moisturized.

Here’s how my hand looked after using HandDrink – this is a few days after my initial try:

You can see my hands are still in rough shape, but improved. HandDrink is not a cure for my dry hands, although it does its best on the dry flakes and patches. I find myself reaching for it about two to three times a day. It sometimes is a relief to get it on. I’m doing my best to increase my water intake, too.

HandDrink retails for $29, and will be available able this month on the brand’s website - it wasn’t listed as of this review writing.

Do you have a go-to hand cream for winter? Are you in the market for something new like HandDrink? I love that it has SPF, and the velvet feel it leaves on my skin after I rub it in!

I’d love to hear your thoughts on HandDrink – does it interest you? – and your winter hand care routine in the comments below!
