Every season I have the same problem. I stare at my mantel for days and days trying to figure out what to put up there. I've got the analysis paralysis and information over-load going on. This time to get me going on my mantel I just started placing things on it. I didn't try for perfection or think about size or scale. I just started. That's the key. Just start. Then tweak size and scale of the items later.
I took down a mirror and replaced it with an architectural "window" piece. I found an old twig wreath I bought from Hobby Lobby years ago and tied it to my "window". I placed dried limelight hydrangeas from my garden in white vases. I like to put boxwood in white vases too like I did
here but that's for another season. I think this took me all of fifteen minutes to throw together. Keeping decorating simple makes it so much easier. What is your favorite way to decorate a mantel? What does your fall mantel look like? Here's a peak of my family room. I'll have a post up about it soon!
