Building A MAC Makeup Collection:February 2014

Happy Monday Beauties, I am pretty excited about this new monthly feature my friend Heidi aka My Vanity Basics and I decided to partner up on. The first Monday of every month we will feature a B.A.M.C. post. What the heck is B.A.M.C? I can't take credit for the core of this idea though, last year I discovered the blog Mama Fashionista she and the blogger Pammy Blogs Beauty had a feature called MAC Matters. Basically what they did was ditch some of their monthly beauty box subscriptions and instead put that money toward building a core makeup collection of MAC products.
I mentioned this to Heidi and this year we decided to do something similar. Although I love all the new products I get to sample via my beauty subscriptions, I found I was signed up for more than I needed and was using. I have a huge box under my vanity where samples go to die, and not to mention all the makeup bags from Ipsy. Like really.... how many makeup bags does one semi-normal beauty obsessed normal person really need. They were starting to pile up and I just don't need them. We decided to play off the idea from Mama Fashionista and Pammy Blogs Beauty and put that money to better use. We allotted ourselves a $50 monthly budget to instead build a makeup collection of things we actually need and will use. We are both obsessed with MAC so that will be our brand of choice. $50 may seem like a lot but I was already spending about $40 on Julep, Birchbox and Ipsy all of witch have now been cancelled. If we don't spend the $50 we can roll the difference from what we did spend over to the pot for future months.
So enough of my rambling here is what I picked up for the first month. I had stopped by my local CCO (Cosmetics Company Outlet) and found these two gems.
MAC Magically Cool Liquid Powder: Cajun ($30) 70% water based with light diffusing pigments this light powder goes on like a ocean mist and dries with a powdery optical blurring finish.

Magically Cool Liquid Powder: Cajun
I have had my eye on this powder for a long time but never pulled the trigger, knowing it was only a matter of time before I would never be able to find it again this time it came home with me. I believe this was originally released as part of the Villains Collection, kicking myself for not buying it sooner and getting it in that packaging.
MAC Eye Shadow: Aztec Brick ($21) Originally released as part of of a quad, it was re-released in a single as part of the Year of the Snake Collection. A frosted copper with a veluxe pearl finish.

MAC Eye Shadow: Aztec Brick
I fell in love with this color and can see it fast becoming a favorite in my collection.
I actually stayed under my $50 budget since both of these gems were scored at the CCO. I paid $21 for the magically cool powder and $14.75 for Aztec Brick bringing my total to $35.75. Whoo I have $14.25 to roll over.
We would love to have you join us on this feature, so feel free to jump in and participate.
