A Day in the Life of Kelly...
Good Morning Lovelies! Today you are invited to spend a day in the life of her.
You know that gal who you might think has it all together. The mama who seems to do it all. Well guess what? She doesn't. Let's fight those lies. This new series is an effort to get rid of the "super mom" image that we all make for ourselves in our heads. It is a time to inspire one another even more. We do not have to always have it together to be good moms, wives, and women in sisterhood!
I have invited some wonderful women to share their story with us and to be real with y'all. They will share their struggles, their victories, their frustrations, their joys, and everything in between. It may not be glamorous, but it is real and real is absolutely beautiful
Come walk a bit in the shoes of another....
------------------------------ Last year, my husband accepted a job assignment that led us to central Europe for a few years. With three little girls, the effort to relocate was extraordinary. We flew with five suitcases, three car seats, two giant backpacks, one pack and play, and a baby stroller. Everyone and everything made it across the pond and we are now completely settled in a cute townhouse in a European village. Totally foreign to my South Florida roots! Most days are ordinary with my husband going to work really early and me homeschooling and toddler-wrangling.

0600: Wake up! Dress and take a minute to gather my thoughts about the day’s agenda. Pray and read my Bible #daychanger.
0700: All three girls are awake: starving, crazy bedhead, and one soggy diaper to change.
0730: Breakfast! Usually something easy- like a healthy cereal, banana, and some water. The baby gets oatmeal and milk. I drink coffee like its my job and hopefully eat something like actually looks like a normal adult breakfast (Mom, I am working on it).
0800: Older girls get dressed and baby plays downstairs. I do kitchen clean-up, unload dishwasher, and set something out to thaw for dinner or throw something tasty in the slow cooker. I love a good slow cooker recipe!
0900: Morning homeschool session! Math, handwriting, and Language Arts are my goals for the morning. We work together for as long as the baby is happy playing with her special schoolroom toys. The older two are able to finish up some work independently as I give baby some one-on-one time.
1045: Girls have some play time while I prep lunch/do laundry/pay bills. Baby hangs with me as I cruise around the house doing chores.
1130: Lunch! Sandwiches, fruit, some pretzels or something savory for my girl who loves something with some flavor. We clean up and hang out downstairs. Baby watches (clutch your pearls! gasp!) a 25 minute PraiseBaby DVD. I have three kids and I need a minute- mmkay?
1230: naptime and quiet time. Hallelujah and amen.
130: Afternoon homeschool session. Reading, spelling, history. We enjoy this time together and it is nice to not be interrupted by cute baby sister.
400ish: Baby wakes up! We play outside (weather permitting) or have some fun indoors until I need to start dinner.
445 pm: Throw dinner together. Admittedly, I am already wiped out by this time. Chicken, vegetables, and a starchy side usually complete a weeknight menu. Some nights are pasta, a big salad, or a big pot of soup. More extensive menus will come later- like when everyone goes to the bathroom unassisted.
530 pm: We eat- usually without Dad. He is still working hard and mama is hangry. Each day is different for him- so I save him a yummy plate in the microwave and hope he can see the kids before bedtime. 630ish- kitchen clean up, bathtime, fingers crossed that Daddy is close to coming home. This is also a difficult time for baby- she is tired and mama is tired and we all pray for grace.
715: baby bedtime! Night night cute baby sister!
745: big girl reading time! Big girls read in their beds. Independent reading is so awesome- embrace your library. Thank a librarian today!
8:00: Big girl bed time! Mama reads and hangs with Daddy for a bit.
1000: Grown up bed time. Lavender essential oil for the win- because this mama won’t give up her coffee habit yet.
Me actually taking the kids shopping in Europe is a whole ‘nother blog post. Our best, most productive, homeschool days happen when we stay home. We have recognized that this may not be the season for me taking the girls out and about all day without another grown up. Keeping things simple and safe is our goal for this year.
Whatever your season, wherever you are- blessings to you. Lets be kind to each other and encourage each other. Homeschoolers, private schoolers, public schoolers, bus riders- whatevs. We all are trying to do our best and we are all winging it. One day at a time, parents.
