Cleaning Out The Junk...

I think we all have times in our lives when we feel bombarded by the junk that can fill our lives. We get it in emails and on social media BIG TIME. This junk can distract us from doing good each day. Last week I noticed that I was checking Facebook and emails far too much during the day. I would have a few spare moments....and I'd pick up my phone. If I was waiting for something, I'd pick up my phone. It was becoming a bit of an addiction. I decided that this junk was keeping me from doing more worthwhile things. It was distracting me from seeing beauty in the little moments....from seeing goodness in what was around me....without knowing it I was placing blinders on my eyes...and I sure didn't like that.

I also hating seeing my inbox full of emails...hundreds and most were just junk. No time for that lovelies!

I decided it was time to dejunk and clean out my phone and email. I uninstalled a bunch of apps. Things like Facebook and twitter, which I can certainly live without. I made a promise to myself to only check those when I am on my laptop. I usually only hop on my computer once a day, so I knew it would cut down on my usage considerably. I also got rid of FB messenger and some of my other "busy" apps.

I wanted to get rid of as many distractions as I could. I also dejunked my blog list....I have certain blogs I love to read each day. They are blogs that leave me inspired and wanting to do more good, but then there were others that were leaving me feeling less than and I didn't want that in my life. Pure goodness and encouragement is what I want in my everyday, so I knew I needed to take some action to make sure that happens.

Dejunking is something that I use to only think was what I did to my house when we needed to clean out and donate, but this past week I have realized that we have many places in our lives that can use a good dejunking. Cleaning out my phone and reading list has changed my week. I am spending less time looking up people's status updates and more time enjoying my family. I am spending less time glued to a screen and more time enjoying my day. I have more time to create...more time to learn....and more time to just be.

How do you guys dejunk?
