Munro Leaf

Look at these beautiful 1950s books by Munro Leaf, I love the mix of simple drawings and text - very satisfying.

Thank god all these moral things are for kids though eh? I'd hate to have to give up my non-committal 'uh-un's and my 'gimmme!'s.

The endpapers are maybe best of all

There are lots of very interesting things about Munro: like that he made a story about a bull called Ferdinand that would not be provoked by any matador (preferred to smell flowers, obviously). Ferdinand was banned in loads of countries, including Spain, and burned by Hitler but Stalin loved it. So he's worth a Wiki (and donate a fiver whilst you're at it).

But for now let us just gaze at the beauty of these pages. Yes, very nice Mr Leaf. You can stay.
