New digs

We have new digs! And they are big and rattly, with holes in the floorboards and damp on the walls. But also space to do what we want and permission to paint/wreck what we like. It is a property guardian place, which means we might have to move out with a months notice at any time, which is weird. But renting in London is a mugs game so I am happy that we can live cheaply and paint the floors if we want. We've only just got in but already things are getting their own make-do/mend aesthetic. It's enjoyable.

This was before all the stuff went in - it felt so huge! Now, not so much.

On the way to the kitchen I have put up my best flat metal things. Also, it's not a great photo, but look at those windows. Nifty.

We also have nice linen tea towels: a job lot from the flea and a multi-storey fruit bowl, so you can see your fruit rot at eye level.

Saturday morning, the paper on the sofa and our new fold-away coffee table. By the money plant is the star of Jack's ball collection: a very old, lignum vitae bowling ball.

My drawers! I love my drawers so much. Featuring so many handy things: ink and knibs, string drawers, sticker drawer, tape and stickers drawer, sewing drawer, price tags, ink pads and stamps . . . I won't go on but suffice to say it's pretty much my pride and joy.

A medley of things yet to be put away, and very importantly the Shoes on a Mat print.

A collection of inspiring things by my desk.

And my desk, which is always a mess; just how I like it.

The sofa is an Ercol one and very comfy but the cushions aren't ideal. I was going to dye them black but the covers are so difficult to get off I thought I might just . . . paint it. So I'll let you know how that turns out. I took this photo whilst sorting those prints I haven't told you about yet: but they are in the shop

Including this one, which is my absolute favourite: the background is a very textured navy and now leans on my desk for me to look at.

So there you have it, new digs: these photos are a bit hotch-potch, taken on the trot when I've thought it looked nice, but not necessarily tidy. I will have plenty more to share soon I'm sure.
