Have a DIY Cocktail Bar

'Having a self-serve bar for guests should be functional, first and foremost, but it's also a good chance for you to bring some style to the party. For the serving containers, rather than using run-of-the-mill beverage dispensers, we used a mix of vintage and vintage-inspired spirit decanters. A few small details rounded out the bar, like an assortment of cocktail spoons/stirrers, a simple flower arrangement etc.'

'You want your guests/friends/etc to be overwhelmed by choice and the sheer size of the platter...If your budget is tighter, bulk up on certain elements of the shopping list that are better value, like grapes, crackers, less fancy cheeses etc. Presentation can go a long way to making your platter look expensive.'
