new direction | i'm back!

Hello there! I hope someone out there is still occasionally checking in, even though I know I've been completely inactive here on my personal blog for several months now. Like I mentioned in my last post back in August, I've been very busy with shopgreydog.com - where I'm blogging and uploading vintage products {we add new items to the site every single week}! Since blogging by nature is a time-consuming activity and consistency is so important, I was hesitant to even attempt to maintain my personal blog, while also trying to balance... life. (You know, work, friends, family, boyfriend, cat, me time, cleaning and cooking, exercising, etc.) But now that our online shop is up and running smoothly, I'd like to try to make this work. And I think that I very well can.
I do miss blorange dicing (muahaha, verbed it) as a creative outlet and as a vehicle for my perspective on fashion, but I would also like to expand my content to include more than just style and photography. In the past year, I've grown up quite a lot. I have tonssss more to learn, but I'm excited to brand myself (if you will) to the internet world once again. Although I am a VERY active user on Instagram, that's really just the tip of the iceberg. I'm going to move forward to improve this li'l blog and continue on in the same spirit as before but with refreshed direction. If you happen to follow me on Instagram, you probably know quite a bit about me (more about that odd phenomenon later), but Instagram is just me being a goofy human and posting random scenes from my life/job. I mean, I LOVE INSTAGRAM. Don't get me wrong, but there's only so much you can share with a photo and a reasonably-sized caption.
What I'm trying to say is that I am going to expand my content, and I'm pumped about it. I don't plan to post the exact same things as I do on my social media accounts or on the grey dog blog (this is a separate voice apart from my individual perspective, and you should check. it. out!), but I do want to share more about my experience as an inhabitant of this strange and beautiful planet. I'd to bring more to the world wide table, including content related to (but not limited to):
  • becoming a website designer (that was hard) and learning new tips & tricks about doing e-commerce, managing a small business, and utilizing social media on the reg
  • becoming a healthy eater and at-home chef/baker, which means recipes are on the way!
  • becoming a better partner to my significant other (the coolest dude around) and exploring exciting new challenges, like living with a law student, managing a budget together, discovering meal planning, parenting our 100% perfect cat Sarkozy (kidding, sort of), homemaking, living healthier lives, planning for our futures, etc.
  • becoming an active person with a balanced schedule... I'm really quite good at extremes; I'm either training for a half marathon, or I'm not at the gym for an entire month and eating pizza every day - I'd like to change that and figure out how to avoid injuries
  • becoming a stylist and realizing that I want to do it forever in some capacity; it feels amazing to help people look their best and express their personal style at the same time with quality, comfortable clothing and accessories
  • becoming a moderate drinker - just because I absolutely adore consuming a few gin and tonics or glasses of wine every single night doesn't mean that I should
  • becoming a long-distance sister to my siblings, daughter to my parents, and friend to my faraway pals that have moved away
  • becoming a writer who actually writes; a book is definitely in my near future
  • becoming a grown, professional woman that can properly apply makeup without using the rub and smudge technique (I still refuse to style my hair, though, and that may never change)
Basically, I'm becoming an adult version of myself. At age 23.5, life is ever-interesting and ever-challenging, and I'm really quite fond of it. Follow me here to come along on my journey! I'll do my best to provide quality, relatable content for all kinds of peeps. But really, I'm just being me.
