The Cool: Tiara Thomas
This March I've decided to give singer/rapper/songwriter Tiara Thomas The Cool of the Month. The 23 year old Indianapolis native-who's most recent success is a chart topping single with DC rapper Wale-has the voice of a old school R&B soul-stress and the style of an indie rocker. I recently came across Thomas after watching Wale's Bad video which features young Thomas singing and stroking away at her guitar. Without even knowing I've been a big fan of Thomas, constantly replaying another song she recorded with Wale entitled The Cloud which was featured on his mixtape More About Nothing. Her straight forward provocative lyrics makes for some great music and portrays a message millions around the world love to listen to. Not only can her voice be heard over the blasting speakers from her fans computer screens, her face was a world wide fixture on the sides of buses and buildings as one of the faces of American Eagle's Fall 2011 back to school campaign. I'm looking forward to Thomas' upcoming LP Sallie Mae I'm expecting great things from her.
