Beth: You mean notorious at this point.

Mac: Let’s keep this interview positive, shall we?

Beth: As you wish. Well, we used to be Mac/Beth, “ship” named by our fans and the press. We were the stars on The Witches of Dunsinane Castle on TeenTV until . . .

Mac: Until Duncan King’s death –

Beth: Murder.

Mac: Death. Don’t start that, Lizzie MacBeth!

Beth: You can deny – fine. Whatever. Anyway, after Duncan . . . died? Is that better? After Duncan died, things went better and worse for us.

Mac: Better.

Beth: It was both, Mac, and you know it.

Mac: Beth, stop rubbing your hands together. You know what your doctor said.

Beth: Right. Sorry. Can we just answer the Classics Carnival question? Ideal date.

Mac: I guess I would say a movie premiere. Something we’re both starring in. Something huge.

Beth: Hmmm.

Mac: What?

Beth: You used to be different. When we first started dating, it would have been something just for us.

Mac: True. Okay. A walk on the beach or a visit to Griffith Park Observatory. A place with a beautiful view where we could hold hands and remember why we love LA. And each other. Your turn. Ideal date.

Beth: Horseback riding.

Mac: I hate horses.

Beth: Well they remind me of home. My other home.

Mac: How about something for us? What did you like to do together before everything got crazy?

Beth: I liked hanging out on the couch and watching TV. When we were learning to cook together and we could just be us. No expectations. No press. It didn’t matter if we got food in our teeth or chewed too loudly or we wanted to kiss.

Mac: I always wanted to kiss you. From the first day I saw you.

Beth: A lot’s changed since then.

Mac: Yep.

Beth: Was it worth it?

Mac: Ask me in a few years.
