Synopsis from Goodreads

The second installment in the Only series. Must read book one first!!

First loves never die but Grayson Ford comes close. Bleeding out in a war zone, he barters with God. Bring him back alive, and he’ll make it right with his girl.

All I want is Emma. I need her, and I fight for her memory. A story. A smile. Anything. But it’s all blank .

Emma is not his girl anymore. Time has skipped by and life’s been hard. She strips to pay the bills, waitresses to fill the hours between classes and her third job. All while working to be the best mama she can be to the little girl who will never know her daddy. Even though Grayson abandoned her, she mourned his death. Until he calls, and everything she knew was wrong.

It’s him. The him that ruined my life. That made my life. That confused my mind to the point that I can’t figure out if I’ve been destroyed or set free. The him that… is… dead.

He’s back with one objective–Emma Kingsley–and she never sees it coming.

REVIEW

Please bear in mind that this is the second installment of this series and it is IMPOSSIBLE to review without spoilers to the first book.

Three years after Grayson left Emma following their amazing night together both Emma and Grayson are very different people due to the ramifications of their decisions.

Grayson has suffered physically and emotionally as a result of active duty. Still, Emma is his guiding light, I absolutely adore how he views her, the comfort he obtains just by picturing her face *SWOON* Gray has been counting down to the end of his enlistment so he can return to Emma and claim her forever ♥ The effects of his PTSD and revelations regarding his mother really tugged at the heartstrings. If I could have reached into the book to give Gray a hug I would have

In the meantime, Emma hasn’t heard a single word from Gray, leaving her devastated at his desertion. Left to cope with the consequences of their night together on her own. Emma is an amazing woman; strong, independent, hard-working, compassionate and loving. I found her such an inspiration. She has goals and aspirations that may have altered from her original path but are nonetheless important and fulfilling to her. Determined to carve her own path, she does whatever she has to in order to provide a secure home, without losing her values in the process. Emma has an amazing support system in her family and friends, although she tries not to rely on them as much as they would like her to. Throughout everything Emma has never stopped loving Gray *happy sigh*

An emotional and explosive reunion between Emma and Gray leads to desperation for their HEA.
