MONA MARA As strange as this is to admit, nowadays I struggle to dress 'casually'. I feel more at ease in dressier skirts and dresses than I ever have in jeans and more casual clothing, however I sometimes feel a little out of place when we're simply going for a lazy coffee on our local high street or popping to the shops. This outfit is an attempt at something a little more toned down than my usual style; a simple dress layered over a basic long sleeved t-shirt. However, I couldn't resist throwing my new milk carton bag in for good measure! Such a bargain at £12.
The navy dress combined with the white shirt, collar detailing and lace up shoes reminded me a little of school uniform, so I thought the milk bag would make a fun finishing touch as it reminded me of the milk cartons we used to drink at primary school. It makes me laugh to think how much I hated school uniform as a child, only to be drawn to school girl styles as an adult. I suppose this retro school girl aesthetic is a little more appealing than the polo shirts, shapeless sweatshirts and itchy summer dresses I used to wear to school!
