10 Striped Wallpaper Design Ideas
Wallpaper is BACK and it’s only going to get bigger in 2017. I, for one, am thrilled about it and I’m busy exploring striped wallpaper design ideas and options as I plan to paper my entryway in the coming months. In what feels like perfect timing, Swedish wallpaper company Sandberg is set to release RAND – which is what they are calling an encyclopaedia of striped wallpaper. Consider my interest sufficiently piqued! You wanna know more too, right? Thought so. Essentially, the RAND collection is a series of 41 different wallpapers that offer striped wallpaper design ideas for every room in the house. Given my recent bedroom makeover it will likely be no surprise to read that I’m totally digging light, Scandinavian colors right now. I’ve always been drawn to simple graphic design and contrasts in room designs, especially when they take a classic pattern, such as a stripe, and make it feel fresh and original. Above is Magnus – the first of ten different striped wallpaper design ideas I’ve rounded up in today’s post. I love the monochromatic color palette that continues out of the wide stripe wallpaper and into all of the other elements in the space. This creates a timeless, chic look – love! One of the reasons I love having a stripe as a backdrop is that it gives you endless opportunities to create rooms with different styles. Whether you want to introduce a new trend, a favorite vintage piece or a design classic, you can! I like how this bedroom uses Fabian wallpaper and contrasts its thin stripe with blush linen bedding and a dash black and white pillow.
Gradually narrowing stripes, just like with the Fjordbyen design, is a perfect way to add visual height and interest to a smaller space.
Wallpapering a series of different transitional spaces, such as a staircase and entryway, in the same Kristina paper serves as a way to unify all the spaces.
The split stripes of the Kallio design are perfect for creating an off-the-cuff and unexpected use of pattern in a cool and all-white Scandinavian space. This is a great approach to decorating with stripes if you want to avoid a traditional look and feel in your space.
Alternatively, if you do like a more traditional look then a thick, classic stripes such as Magnus is perfect for your desired aesthetic.
There’s definitely nothing expected about this use of the Osterbro wallpaper at half-height in a bathroom. I love the optical illusion feel created by hanging a mirror over the wallpaper.
A thin ticking stripe like Fabian is perfect for a home office when used in a soft, faded shade; if the color were too bright or strong in tone it would be too distracting for such a room.
I love how the varying Kristina stripe pattern on the walls of this kitchen lead through to the William stripe in the dining room, which serves as an echo to the kitchen design. This is a smart way to tie the two spaces together visually without using an identical pattern. I love those wishbone chairs paired with the thicker striped wallpaper (below), too.
