Yosemite Nat’l Park with Jessa from Caked Vintage

As you may know, in September I drove from Oklahoma to Washington. It was a three-week long road trip, much of which I spent exploring places solo. One of the stops I made as I zig-zagged through California however, was to visit my friend Jessa who lives just outside of Yosemite. We had been internet and blogging pals for a while, but we had not yet met in real life. I stayed with Jessa and her husband for 2 days, and one of the days, we got to explore Yosemite National Park!

These photos may look a little unseasonal now, (I’m typing this with icy fingers, huddled in a blanket in front of a heater) but keep in mind this was the beginning of September and Northern California gets pretty dang hot. There was a big forest fire in another part of the park that had been going on for some time before I got there. You can barely see Half Dome in the above picture, obscured by smoke.

Having grown up in Northern California, the terrain was very familiar, but I’d only actually been to the park a couple of times when I was young and visiting my grandparents. So this was almost a whole new experience, and it was such a great one! Jessa and I hit it off right away. I had so much fun wandering around the park and getting lost that I was laughing so hard I was crying and my cheeks hurt by the end of the day.

Here I am looking very drab next to brightly-colored Jessica in her cute beetle print dress. Head over to her blog next where she talks about the visit and has some more photos, one of which she is levitating in!
