New Moon, New Magic.

We’re one minute (if my calendar is correct) into our first new moon of the new year. That. Is. Magical.

New moons are a time to celebrate new beginnings – test out new things – become more adventurous. Make your own portable altar! Tell someone you love them. Burn some sage. Light a candle. Remember someone who is gone and smile.

What if, twelve times a year, we all tried out something different? It wouldn’t have to be a major, life-altering thing. Maybe it’s holding a door for someone or choosing not to get angry over small things. Maybe it’s emailing an old friend or, better yet, writing them a letter on beautiful stationary. It could be taking a look at yourself in a mirror and remembering that you are both beautiful and as close to perfect as anyone can get just because you’re you – unique. Like Shakespeare wrote:

“Who is it that says most, which can say more, than this rich praise, that you alone, are you.”
