Can the League’s most wicked rakehell be tamed? Or has this Rogue fallen too far?
Horatia Sheridan has been hopelessly in love with Lucien, her brother’s best friend, ever since he rescued her from the broken remains of her parents’ wrecked carriage. His reputation as London’s most notorious rakehell doesn’t frighten her, for under his veneer of cool authority she has glimpsed a man whose wicked desires inspire her own.
Lucien, Marquess of Rochester, has deliberately nurtured a reputation for debauchery that makes every matchmaking mother of the ton quake with fear. His one secret: he is torn between soul-ripping lust for Horatia, and the loyalty he owes her brother.
That loyalty is put to the test when an old enemy of the League threatens Horatia’s life. With Christmas drawing near, he sweeps her away to his country estate, where he can’t resist granting her one wish—to share his bed and his heart.
But sinister forces are lurking, awaiting the perfect moment to exact their revenge by destroying not only whatever happiness Lucien might find in Horatia’s arms, but the lives of those they love.
Warning: This book contains an intelligent lady who is determined to seduce her brother’s friend, a brooding rake whose toy of choice in bed is a little bit of bondage with a piece of red silk, a loyal band of merry rogues and a Christmas love so scorching you’ll need fresh snow to extinguish it.

Review

That was a really awesome read! I absolutely love the Rogues in this story. Every character in the League brings something different to the table and I love getting to know all of them. Their little quirks and personalities make you crave learning more about them. This story was a bit different than its predecessor’s. It was told in multi-points of view and really featured the behind the scenes villain. Instead of being completely focused on the love interests it focused on the love interests, the villain, and some other secondary characters. The thriller/ suspense aspect in this novel was heightened and this tale of love was sweeter.
Horatia Sheridan has loved one man her entire life. She has decided to stop pining away for his love and do something about it. Even though his tastes may be unconventional she is willing to try anything to get him to notice her as a woman and not his best friend’s little sister. I enjoyed Horatia’s character. She was a good girl with a good head on her shoulders. Not someone who was overly dramatic nor selfish and catty. She cared for people and had a nice, if not shy, demeanor. I really liked that she decided to go after what she wanted, damn the consequences.
Lucien Russell has always contained his inner cravings when it came to his best friend’s little sister. But as she grows up it becomes harder and harder to stay cool and aloof towards her. Lucien, Lucien, Lucien! He is such a good, bad boy! He ends up always being there for Horatia when she really, really needs him and of course how can she not be in love with him when he shows his caring, sweet, and kind side to her.
I absolutely loved that Lucien was in touch with his BDSM side! It made his character even more rakish and fantastic. The whole scene in the Midnight Garden was funny and very, very hot! He shows how devilish and playful he can be towards Horatia. And she is totally picking up what he is putting down if you know what I mean!
Throughout the story even when the characters are faced with deadly threats and situations that could change their entire lives, and not for the better, they are still trying to make of the best of things. I completely loved that they were all still playful and still doing silly antics! The forming of the Society of Rebellious Ladies was a wonderfully fun scene. I need to join The Society of Rebellious Ladies!! That’s so freaking awesome!
As I said above, this book gave us glimpses of other characters. We get to meet Lucien’s family and his mom is awesomesauce!!!! His whole family is pretty wonderful and they all love each other very much. I really hope we get to have some of their stories in the future! There is a bit of set up for some character’s love interests in the future and I can’t wait to see how they end up playing out. Especially Horatia’s sister, Aubrey. She is definitely more than meets the eye. Even though she is a little silly and a little young she has sound ideas and I’m really excited to find out more about her story. She’s also got a secret and I can’t wait to figure it out!
We finally get some information on the villain that has been plaguing the League from behind the scenes! His involvement isn’t resolved yet but I’m excited to see how everything plays out in the rest of the series. I’m really over this mean icky character but I am kind of fascinated by him and want to know his story. I hate him but I need more!
In the end this is another slam dunk in the League of Rogues series. Lucien and Horatia made me root for their forbidden love and the suspense nearly killed me! I’m so excited that series is going strong and that Cedric’s story is up next! I can’t wait to fall in love with his character now
