How to spend a lot of money/AKA a visit to Chantecaille

Oh the thrill that comes with a high end beauty haul! Especially when the products come from one of your all time favourite brands.

I feel like it's been a while since I did some serious damage in a department store cosmetics hall but thankfully this has been well and truly rectified this weekend.

The reason why this has even taken place is due to the presence of this particular counter in Bloomingdales Dubai.

I feel like the return of Chantecaille to the market (it was previously stocked in Boutique 1 many moons ago) was poorly promoted by Bloomingdales. It's only by chance that I saw it in store and although I might be biased, I feel like it's presence is a BIG deal.

PR aside the staff at the counter are lovely. They know their product - which is something of a rarity at make up counters this neck of the woods - and they are also extremely generous when it comes to samples!

I got 4 things and I'll give a little rundown of each:

Chantecaille bronzer in Tahiti
Recommend? YES
This is their darkest and deepest bronzer but I find it really wearable. As with Capri, the other Chantecaille bronzer that I own, there is an apricot-meets-light-tan undertone to the shade that stops it from looking muddy or orange. It's definitely not as pigmented as a NARS bronzer but it does give a flattering veil of colour which creates a more subtle glow.

Recommend? YES
This is such a generic colour and yet I love it! It's a light pink that works spectacularly well layered over a lipstick like my new BFF - By Terry Terrybly Nude. There are teeny sparkles suspended in the formula that help to give lips dimension but my favourite thing is probably the formula. It feels hydrating and seems to last longer than the average, with the residue of product imparting a pretty lip look hours after application. It could be duped but as my first foray into Chantecaille glosses I have to say I am impressed!

Recommend? Yes…I think
This gets a hefty 4.6 out of 5 on Make Up Alley which is always a good sign. It's pink-meets-coral and reminds me of a less shimmery and more subtle Benefit Coralista. It's medium in pigmentation - a dab with a brush will give a wash of colour but a more rigorous swirl with result in Aunt Sally cheeks. I like the formula - it's very easy to blend - but the colour is not remarkably distinct.

Recommend? Yes - based purely on formula
For someone that loves Chantecaille I haven't really tried that much have I because this is my first eyeshadow from the brand. I chose Carnelian which I would describe to you as a soft sparkling amber toned shadow. Right off the bat I can say that the formula is lovely - even a shade as potentially shimmery as this has a smoothness to it that makes it really easy to blend and work with. I can only imagine that the matte shades are even better. I would totally go back and buy more, particularly Ginger and Tanzanite.

I slapped it all on today, with some Just Skin, some false lashes and a touch of Bobbi Brown black shadow and this is what it looked like.

I will definitely be back at the counter soon. I feel like there is unfinished business where the glosses are concerned and the Petales perfume continues to haunt me as it's so amazing. However, it would be remiss of me not to mention the elephant in the room. This is a bloody expensive brand. The price tags make me giddy and also a little cautious as I really don't want to be buying more things that I don't absolutely love.
