This top was the second item that I chose from the
Nicole Scherzinger/Missguided collection.
When I selected it I saw it only from the front. I thought I was getting some cool asymmetrical top with black pleather trim. I didn't realise that there was a cut at the side. When I saw it my heart dropped a little and I was reminded that while my mid-section is okay it is not toned enough for this.
See I originally envisaged myself wearing the top with black skinnies. It's meant to be slightly oversized and I thought that skinny jeans would be an ideal pairing. Now it would, it totally would. When I tried it on I could totally see that because from the front it looks great...but when I turn to the side with the slit all I see is muffin top. And that wouldn't do.
So I tried it with my boyfriend jeans. The waistband is a lot more forgiving but still....it just didn't seem to work. I think it was the black trim with the blue of the jeans - there was a clash and it made me feel uncomfortable.
The next step was the black flippy skirt. There are very few things in life that don't go with a black skirt and I think this works. Better still is the fact that the slit at the side (not pictured) exposes flesh that sits nicely and tastefully. I wore this with copious quantities of fake tan and frizzy hair!
Literally as soon as I saw these photos on my camera preview window I went for a blowdry in a great salon I stumbled into in KLCC. Thank goodness for that! :)

Link! I think my next attempt with this top will be a pencil skirt - in fact I think this will be the best combination of all. I wish I had bought one with me!
FYI
I fly home (Dubai) tomorrow so it's been a lovely whirlwind visit.
On the plane I plan to watch
Austenland for the second time. It's one of those "so bad it's good" films and I urge you to seek it out when you are feeling particularly soppy - and I have to say that JJ Feild makes it particularly easy to watch! :)
See you soon!
