“Dirge,” my short SF story, free prerelease copy here!

“Isn’t it funny? I can bring the Moon down from the sky…blast it from orbit…but I can’t mend a broken heart. I envy humans…” So says the Mirus, my Wavetouched protagonist in this first short story from yours truly at only a little over 7300 words!

A former military strategic weapon and escaped ex-slave of a technologically advanced race of extraterrestrial humans, the Mirus finds himself in a bad situation, when his probable planet of origin, Terra, is threatened by a power much exceeding his own, and far greater in numbers and fanatical zeal.

I’ve recently completed the final draft for my SF story Dirge, and I’m offering the prerelease version free on this blog sans cover art before publishing it on Amazon for Kindle later this month.

I’ve selected two final candidates for the cover image, shown here as thumbnails, though only one of these will make it into the final version.
