Tomako in Moratorium (2013) (English)

We follow a young woman who just have finished university in Tokyo. She moves back home to her father, she does not contribute with anything, the only thing she does is the sleeping, eating, playing videogames and reading comics.

Tomako in Moratorium is directed by Nobuhiro Yamashita, he has made films like Linda Linda Linda, The Drudgery Train and A Gentle Breeze in the Village. He is very good at making relaxing films that calms you down. Tomako in Moratorium is another film in that category.

It does not happen much here, as a viewer you wonder what kind of problems the young woman has, and I was waiting for the father to really get angry and beat up his daughter. Oddly enough one can say, one becomes engaged in what is happening on the screen. That said, it does not happen a lot, but as a viewer you will ask yourself questions and wait for the protagonist to open up a little and tell why she has hit the wall.

With a runtime of only 73 minutes, time flies away quickly and suddenly the film is finished and the scrolling text appears on the screen. This is a great film if you need a quiet film with a mysterious woman who really is not enjoying herself, she has just hit the wall.
