Rediscovering the Naked Basics

There is something so simple yet put together about a matte eyeshadow look. It is truly something I have not embraced in quite some time but every time I pick up one of the Urban Decay Naked Basics palettes, I fall for a matte look all over again.
It wasn't too long after the original Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette came out that I had picked it up, just a couple years back. For the first time my collection was welcoming matte shades. While I only had this matte palette, I absolutely loved it though I always found it to be a little light for my skin tone. Soon enough, the Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Palette hit the shelves to answer my wishes and I couldn't imagine not having it since.
For a full matte look, I do a wash of one of the lighter shades all over the lid first. I then take one of the darker brown shades and buff it into the crease for depth. To finish off I will take the black or dark grey along the lash line for soft definition. It is super simple and can be done right with any combination of the shades offered in the palettes. For a tiny bit of shimmer, I'll take the slightly shimmery shade of each palette and tap it gently over the centre of the lids to catch the light.
These palette aren't only good on their own though, of course. The brown shades are great transition colours for the crease with any shimmery shade on the lid. For that reason, I personally prefer the Naked2 Basics palette to the original as the shades are darker making it more versatile for use with shades outside of the palette.
If you ever wondered if you needed these palettes, I'm here to tell you that they are great matches for your existing collection of shimmery shades and isolated use. These shadows can honestly be described as buttery, as they are pigmented, soft, and blendable. I couldn't recommend the formula enough!
Have you tried Urban Decay palettes, particularly the Naked Basics line?
