A Touch of Greenery
I wrote an article for Glidden on trending green paint colors and wouldn’t you know the very same day it was published, Pantone announced ‘Greenery’ as Color of the Year. I had a feeling it would be green! I confess I’m not a fan of the yellowish and very vivid hue they named (I prefer gray greens and olive) but was delighted to see that the color green finally made it to the top of the list and won the prize.
I’m not surprised by the name they chose after all natural greenery and botanical inspired prints have been trending in interiors for some time. You know those spaces I’m referring to, the ones with white walls, warm/natural woods, and tons of green plants. I counted my own indoor potted house plants and I’m up to eighteen different versions that are thriving in various spaces in my abode. I love having leafy green plants all around me, each one adds a sense of calm and serenity to my busy day.
Greenery symbolizes a fresh start, a healthy outlook, a reconnection to nature. I’m sure we’ll be seeing a ton of this color come spring in home decor. Bring it on I say! Pair it with black, or bold pink, or vivid blue. If you’re thinking paint, green really is one of the best choices for a front door or a piece of accent furniture. Add a touch of greenery indoors as an upholstered chair or sofa, as a botanical themed home accent, or in the most authentic form, by layering your home with nature’s own leafy designs.
