Fashion can be found on a frugal budget. I found some affordable, lightweight chevron scarves that make a great addition to any wardrobe. And if you’re accessory-challenged like me, here I also share tips for scarf tying and how to wear a scarf.

Scarves are such a versatile accessory, and now even my tween has started wearing them. But when you can find them for as low as $3.78 shipped, that’s the time to stock up in every color!

These that I found have nearly 30 colors to choose from, ranging in price from $3.28 50¢ shipping to $8.99 free shipping. Simply click each different color and you’ll see the current price for that scarf.

Infinity scarves are my favorite style of scarf to wear, because there’s much less of a risk of screwing it up and wearing it wrong (remember above, I admitted to being accessory-challenged). Simply slip over your head, cross and double back over your head, adjusting as needed for your neckline and top.

Scarf Tying Tips

For traditional scarves that are not looped, I found these helpful tips on how to tie a scarf in several ways:

  • Drape one side over shoulder, take the other around the back of your neck, loop around your neck once, then drape across the other shoulder.
  • Fold in half vertically. Place behind your neck, pulling both ends around to your front, then slide the loose ends into the folded end.
  • Hold one end, while looping the other end several times around your neck, bringing both ends together at the front, tie the ends and tuck under layers, creating a sort of faux turtleneck.
  • Create your own infinity loop: tie the ends in a knot as close to the ends as possible, so it’s one long loop. Slip over your head, cross and double back over your head.

Scarf Hanger Options

Just this past Christmas a scarf hanger was a simple gift idea I asked my husband for, and he delivered. There are several options for scarf hangers, and our home’s previous owner fashioned four knobs screwed into a board on our closet wall which I had been using, until my scarf collection grew!

This one (above) I like because it has both hoops and hooks, so for infinity scarves you can easily hang on a hook, and for open-ended scarves you can slide through the hoops. It’s the first one I’ve seen to offer both. You can find it here and it’s super cheap – $8.19 currently, and that’s for a 3-pack! Plus it ships free on orders over $35 or with Amazon Prime and no minimum.

Kohl’s has a few styles of scarf hangers, although these indicate they’re only available online.

Do you wear scarves all year ’round, or just in the winter? What’s your favorite way to wear a scarf?
