Latte and Laptops: De Bakkerswinkel

For the early risers among us, the break of day is often the best time to get stuff done. We often visit wifi hotspots during our morning coffee, thinking ‘is this a good place where we can tick off our to-do list?’ This week we provide you with a new wifi hub with a signature latte in hand. Let’s review another Amsterdam hang out. Lemon meringue pie optional.

Name: De Bakkerswinkel (location Amsterdam West)

1. What’s the interior and atmosphere like?
The smell of honeycomb butter and fresh fruits is typical for De Bakkerswinkel. With several locations around the city, they must serve hundreds of slices of their homemade sweet and savoury pastries. The sweet scents translate into cheerfully coloured sofas and handwritten notes all around. A large reading table is located in the centre of this all.

2. How is the coffee?
Very good! Especially the perfect foam on our flat white. If you’re up for something new, try their delicious matcha latte. Don’t forget to save room for a something sweet later!

3. Could you actually get work done?
Rise early to get some work done, because De Bakkerswinkel is usually packed during noon. Next to being a relaxed spot to hang out, it’s a wonderful place to have meetings. To fully focus on a deadline? Not so much.

4. So… where is De Bakkerswinkel located?
On the grounds of the Westergasfabriek. Regulateurshuis 1, Polonceaukade 1 in Amsterdam. Next to the main entrance is a cute little takeaway spot for pies and sweets.
