Magazine of the Month: Beauty Papers

Beauty Papers was born in the train to Paris, where Valerie Wickes and Maxine Leonard had a conversation about their shared passion over red wine. Their love for the beauty industry resulted in a wonderful magazine, full of – you guessed it – beauty, emotion and a clash of images, words and ideas.

When you’re flipping through the pages of Beauty Papers, you feel that what this magazine stands for goes beyond selling mascara. It shows imperfections, and understands that true beauty rarely is perfect: we just have to be brave enough to know and enjoy that.

Here are four more reasons why you should buy this magazine:

Reason one
An informative essay by nutritionist, model and owner of fabulous jewellery Rosemary Ferguson about beauty that is not just skin deep. She rightfully claims that it also has a lot to do with how you feel, physically and mentally.

Reason two
A story in which Amy Marquis investigates the link between class and the use of cosmetics. Since ancient times, cosmetics have played a significant role in the art of self-fashioning, fulfilling societies’ constructed notions of beauty and social status. Did you know that the Romans linked a fair complexion with beauty and love?

Reason three
A brilliant editorial by Benjamin Pucky and Paola Kudacki: think water, paint, latex and the insanely beautiful Sarah Brannon.

Reason four
The last page that is filled with the poem Last word by Serge Lutens:
Her power is immense, striking you with lightning in a drop of water. She uses our beliefs, and eliminates all our oppositions. So unmasked, helping me with my worst hurdles. Beauty can only betray.

To beauty, on the outside and inside!
