Amsterdam, we love you! It’s easy to be infatuated with this city, and even though it gets normal to bike on the canals every day, sometimes the overwhelming beauty of the century old houses surrounded by water and trees strikes you like a thunderbolt. You can easily imagine all the joy, the fights, the celebrations and the heartache that took place on these very streets.
The strolls in the parks, the orange coloured city on Kingsday, the Noordermarkt on Monday morning, the countless hipster coffee places where you can drink that gold brown brew that Multatuli wrote so eloquently about, and the evening sun on the Sarphatistraat – to some the most beautiful place in the world. Somehow the return of spring makes you wonder about all the lives that were led, and it makes you feel small yet privileged to live your life in such a pretty place.
