July Blog Traffic Report + August Goals

I had another slow and disappointing month in July and only got 3 blog posts up again. I know, there really is no excuse, except I was just exhausted and my day job has been kicking my ass! A lot is changing for me in August, so I’m hoping to have a lot more free time to dedicate to this. I also have a couple of projects coming up that I am ecstatic about, so fingers crossed that I can get my shit together this month!

Although I only got three blog posts published, I had some extremely good things happening over on Pinterest that gave my traffic a pretty shocking boost…I hit my goals and then some!

After having a rough couple of months (the summer is seriously getting to me!), I really plan to refocus on my blog/biz this month so that I can end the year with a bang.

Here are last month’s stats and this month’s goals.

Traffic Report:

June 2015:

Sessions: 3,792
Users: 3,101
Pageviews: 5,589

July 2015:

Sessions: 5,615 ( 48.9%)
Users: 4,818 ( 55.4%)
Pageviews: 7,571 ( 35.5%)

My goals for this month were 4,200 sessions and 6,000 pageviews, so it’s safe to say that I definitely exceeded those. I had a couple of posts that were pinned/promoted by some larger influencers, so although I didn’t have viral traffic by any means, I had a couple of big spikes just from Pinterest. So that was definitely exciting!

Another month with only two posts aside from my monthly blog traffic report. My 30-day audit post is an extremely comprehensive post for upping your social media strategy, so a lot of work was put into that one, so it’s almost like 3 posts in one.

Social Media Stats:

Facebook: 152 ( 15)
Twitter: 2,209 ( 94)
Instagram: 814 ( 6)
Google : 525 ( 30)
Pinterest: 1,798 ( 138)

Since I typically pay to promote each of my new blog posts on Facebook, my lack of posts has caused an extreme decrease in how many new likes I get each month. Facebook and Instagram need to be my biggest priorities right now.

Email Newsletter:

I’m incredibly proud of how well my email list has been doing so far. Growing this will also be a big focus in the coming months as I brainstorm more ways to grow my blog and business.

July Goals:

1. Post at least once a week.

Yeah right. I missed two whole weeks of posting. Shame on me.

2. Grow my Instagram following to 825.

No, but it did grow…so I’m counting this as half a win!

3. Post a 30-day challenge.

This was in the works for a very long time, so I was very excited to finally finish and post my 30-day social media audit! If your social media accounts could use a little work, I highly recommend you check it out.

4. Create a theme for my email newsletter.

Yep. And it’s awesome. And I have all of my newsletter topics planned out through November. And it’s a series that you really won’t want to miss, so sign up in my sidebar!

August Goals:

1. Post 1-2 times a week.

I should have a good bit more time to focus this month, so publishing blog posts is going to become a priority. I can’t always rely on older posts to grow my blog–I need to continue to create new ones as well.

2. Plan blog post topics for the next two months.

I started this blog with a huge amount of ideas and creativity and every day I stay at my day job, I lose a little bit more of my soul. (Totally kidding–I have a love-hate relationship with my job depending on how crazy the day is, and recently almost every day has been crazy! That’s what happens when you’re one of three people working for a startup!)

I’ve just been burnt out and I get to the point of the day where my brain starts laughing at me and says “F that!” anytime I try to work on something. So I need to take some time to do put together my upcoming blog posts so that I won’t have any excuse not to write!

3. Work on an awesome upcoming project.

Something I’m super excited about but also super nervous about and am really going to need to do a lot of prepping for!

4. Brainstorm/map out my next big project.

My last big project (other than blog posts) was my Social Media Strategy ebook. I loved writing it and am already brainstorming ideas for my next one. I hope to have my topic chosen and book mapped out by the end of the month!

Sessions: 6,000
Pageviews: 8,000

Big goals for this month…but I can do it…I think. ;)
