On the Runway: Pierre Balmain Spring 2014

From the house of Balmain, Olivier Rousteing produces yet another amazing collection for Pierre Balmain. This collection gives a nod to the rockabilly era with its heavy distressing, zippers and leather, yet doesn’t become old-fashioned due to its modern fits and styling.
Pierre Balmain created a much more ready to wear and street inspired collection than the Balmain collection in Paris did. While the latter was clean and polished, this show is definitely a little dirtier and rough around the edges. What hasn’t changed between the shows is the undeniable construction of the garments and the attention to details. Both shows also only used neutral colors. This show is primarily black, white and grey with a few sprinkles of olive green and navy (which are still neutral colors). I highly recommend going over to digitalfashionshow.com and getting a closer look at some of the pieces as well as taking a look at the rest of the collection.
Overall I loved this collection. Balmain always makes some of the best pants and the black leather pair above is everything I would expect from the fashion house. I also love the distressing of the garments; it is not overdone but definitely makes a statement.
How do you guys feel about this collection? Would you wear it?
