#throwbackthursdays - Honeycomb Heart by Carly Tee Minner

Hi! Carly here for another #throwbackthursdays! It's an exciting time around Ellen Hutson LLC as we add lots of new products to the store from the winter trade show. We have some really fun stuff coming, including a lot of tissue paper products. Sounds kinda weird but tissue is trending! With tissue paper, tissue fringe and tissue honeycomb, you can create some really cool things! And like always, The Classroom is a great place to get ideas. Our team has been experimenting with tissue for a while. Check out some of these great articles:

I decided to start with some of the tissue honeycomb and here's what I created:

1. I started with a 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 piece of Smooth Bristol (my current favorite for watercoloring). I used Distress Ink Spun Sugar to paint a watercolor strip along the bottom of my card.

2. While my card was drying, I used washi tape to temporarily adhere the largest heart from the Essentials by Ellen Folk Hearts to my honeycomb pad. I used the Inky Antics Honeycomb Pink Pad but there are also a bunch of cool new honeycomb arrivals from We R Memory Keepers.

3. I ran it through my Big Shot and it didn't quite cut all the way through so I finished with scissors. I could have also just used my folk heart die as a stencil. And here's a tip, you want the glue lines in the honeycomb pad to run horizontally across your shape.

4. I scored a 1/8 inch "channel" in my card instead of just folding it in half. The scored channel creates a place for the honeycomb pad on the inside of the card.

5. Before adhering my honeycomb to my card, I added a sentiment from Essentials by Ellen Love You So. I stamped half of the sentiment on the front and half inside. Memento Dew Drops are awesome for partial inking of a stamp.

6. Then I adhered my honeycomb inside my card.

7. And then I decided I wanted to add some little stamped hearts on the inside.

8. To complete the front of my card, I foam mounted some watercolored hearts and added a few sequins.

I love what a fun surprise the honeycomb is inside the card but it would also be super fun on the outside! I can't wait to experiment more. I highly recommend it!

Happy Thursday!

xo, Carly
