The Healing Powers of a Green Juice

I love everything about green juices. And this is crazy because a few years ago, I was SO in love with green smoothies. So much so that I thought about doing a series all about green smoothies. That didn’t happen. Ha! But The love for the smoothies is still there but honestly…I love green juices more. Don’t get me wrong, I still curling up with a book and glass of freshly blended greens and fruits but there’s something very special and nourishing about a green juice.

For one thing, they aren’t always sweet. I have a greater appreciation for vegetables because unlike my smoothies, my juices usually only have 1 fruit in them as opposed to nut milks, bananas, berries, etc. The juices keep it simple but still oh so delicious.

Last week I was dying. Well, not literally but I had a TERRIBLE cold that included sinus pressure. I couldn’t eat or taste anything for days. This condition was 100x better than the food poisoning crap (haha, literally) that I went through last week but I needed vitamins, minerals and a whole lot of goodness in my belly. So I made this Cold Bustin’ Green Juice.

I made about 4 servings of that juice and slurped it for an entire day. It was probably citrus overload but I so desperately craved the greens and was hoping that the Vitamin C could help. Between that, gulping apple cider vinegar, homemade elderberry syrup and swallowing minced garlic (y’all know I’m a hippie), I’m actually doing a bit better.

True green juicers use those fancy juicers but yours truly uses her Vitamix because look, that thing wasn’t cheap and um, I’ll be using that puppy for the rest of my days. Just sayin’. At some point, I may invest in a juicer but eh.

Have you ever had a green juice? Or do you make your own? If you’ve got any fun recipes, please share!
