I’m Inspired!

I don’t have to look far for inspiration. I am seriously surrounded by it. Shoot…glancing outside is a form of inspiration for me because if blue skies and green grass can’t inspire you in some way, check your pulse, homie. Being all connected to the internet means I am constantly being bombarded by images of super skinny models and their fake plumped lips all over Instagram. I mean, I am excited to see a plus size model on the cover of a major magazine. And dark skinned beauties like Lupita are still making headway, but do you know who is REALLY inspiring me? Dorrie is 80 years old and she’s a fashion blogger at Senior Style Bible. Excuse me while I pick my mouth up all of the floor. Is she not the fiercest lady you’ve ever seen? Oftentimes we think of beauty and we think of stunning young girls with tight bodies, abs and perky breasts but look man, everyone doesn’t have that. I searched all over Dorrie’s site and was in such a trance at her styling choices, her overall attitude and her fervor for life. It’s so refreshing!

I’ve got girlfriends freaking out about turning a year older and dude, I celebrated entering 30-hood. I’ll embrace my 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and God willing, when I live to see my 80’s, you won’t be able to tell me anything. Why is it that we freak out about turning older? What’s the problem with this again? Dorrie is 80 years old and rockin’! Why in the world is that something to fear?

When I spot it, I’ll let you know. In the meantime, I’m wishing Dorrie was local to me so I could treat her out to lunch and just sit and marvel in her awesomeness.
