Six Beauty Newsbites to Snack on This Week
If you’ve been bitten by the beauty bug it would be wise to start saving your pennies, because a host of product launches are set to drop any moment, and they’re all totally irresistible. Last week I attended back-to-back beauty events, eating my weight in poached eggs, pastries and fruit salads as I went along. And here is my visual diary of the week, with all the need-to-know beauty gossip…
Christian Louboutin Launches Nail Colour:
By now I’m sure you’re well aware that Christian Louboutin is branching into beauty, with a debut nail colour collection. The centrepiece of the Christian Louboutin Beauté lineup is obviously the iconic red, otherwise known as ‘Rouge Louboutin’. I got to sample the shade last week, and it’s very impressive. You only need to apply one coat, as the red is heavily pigmented, and the scary-looking pointed cap is actually really easy to handle (it’s like holding with a pen).
Rouge Louboutin is available in Christian Louboutin boutiques and concessions from August 14th, and the full collection of 31 shades will be released on September 1st. They’re pricey, at £36 a bottle, but worth it if you’re a die-hard Louboutin fan.
Stella McCartney’s STELLA Perfume Gets a New Look:
Stella McCartney’s signature scent, STELLA, has been one of my go-to fragrances since it first launched in 2003. And the British fashion designer has just given it a fresh update, with new polka dot packaging and a brand new ad campaign starring Lara Stone. Last week Stella hosted a breakfast at Harrods’ Ladurée restaurant, where she revealed she finds it hard to throw perfume bottles away once they’re finished. “I’m just a hoarder,” she joked.
Find the new-look STELLA packing at Harrods, and nationwide from August 1st. (And, yes, I can confirm Stella McCartney is absolutely lovely!)
Jo Malone London Prepares for Christmas:
I’m sure you don’t really want to think about Christmas this early in the year. Unless, of course, you’re Buddy the Elf. However, Jo Malone London‘s festive offering is so delightful I had to give you a little sneak preview. Forested Cherry & Clove is their key fragrance for Christmas 2014, and last week they celebrated the collection by turning their London headquarters into a winter wonderland. That’s me ice skating in the Jo Malone showroom – so just a typical Tuesday morning…
Aerin Lauder Comes to Town:
I have a massive girl crush on Aerin Lauder. She sits alongside Natalie Massent and Diane von Furstenberg in the supercool women working in fashion/beauty hall of fame. And last week Aerin jetted into London from her Hamptons home to launch her Beach Cream and two new fragrances. I’m sure many of you are already fans of the Aerin fragrance collection (Evening Rose and Amber Musk are my favourites), and Waterlily Sun and Iris Meadow are equally are gorgeous. They both hit counters in October, so look out for them.
And FYI, like Stella McCartney, Aerin Lauder was also ridiculously lovely!
Nars Dual Intensity Eyeshadow and Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm:
And, finally, here are two beauty launches that you can get your paws on right now… The Nars Dual Intensity Eyeshadow shades are super-flattering (I’ve been using ‘Desdemona’) and can be used wet or dry – depending on how intense you want the colour to be. Find the full collection of 12 shades at Space NK. The new Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balms have also just dropped. There are four shades in the collection, and the cream blushes are water, sweat, and humidity-resistant. Perfect for summer then!
