January Favorites

I’m sharing my favorite things from the month of January!!

Hey guys! Let’s talk about my January favorites — nothing super duper interesting (except #6) but some great quality products that I am loving and using daily.

I didn’t include any TV or Movies this month, but we did go see American Sniper and liked it very much. It was sad, but also a very well-made movie. Bradley Cooper was phenomenal as usual! My favorite of his will probably ALWAYS be Silver Linings Playbook, though. It comes on one of the movie channels a lot and it never gets old for me.

TV – I am obviously watching and recapping The Bachelor. My husband and I are also watching The Sopranos every evening. We didn’t watch it when it was new, so we are basically the only people on the earth who haven’t seen it. I LOVE it. I have to force myself not to sneak and watch episodes while my husband is at work.

As far as music is concerned, my life is basically Swifty’s 1989 or the Frozen soundtrack. I could lie and say I minded, but I kinda don’t. And Lucy has learned to dance, which makes the music that much better!

Here are the rest of my favorites:

1. MAC Prep Prime Highlighter (shade: Light Boost)

I have been dying to try the cult favorite highlighter by YSL for awhile, but then I saw this similar one by MAC that was a lot cheaper. I LOVE it! It’s a nice formula that is thick enough to do double duty as a concealer.

2. Tigi Bed Head After Party

This is one of my favorite products to tame frizz and fly-aways post hair drying/straightening. You only need a tiny bit and it doesn’t leave your hair looking greasy.

3. Fabletics

I still LOVE my Fabletics every month. Cute, cozy clothes at GREAT prices. Perfect for running errands or hanging around the house.

4. Spicy Wholly Guacamole 100 Calorie Packs

My favorite low calorie afternoon pick me up.

5. Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask

Perfect for this cold, dry weather. I put this on every night when I apply my moisturizer.

6. Amazon Echo

I signed up for an invitation to buy an Amazon Echo several months ago, and finally got my invitation in early January. It arrived about a week and a half ago, and so far I LOVE it. I read a lot of mixed reviews about the Echo, many that said it was basically a glorified Siri or bluetooth speaker, which I don’t necessarily think is inaccurate. However, for MY needs, which are pretty minimal, this is a pretty cool device at a great price. The main selling point for me was the grocery list — I can’t tell you how many times I notice we are out of something and forget to go write it down on my list…and forget to buy it at the store. With the Echo, I can just yell it out as soon as I notice we are out, and it is immediately inputted to a grocery list on my phone.

The other thing that is handy is that it’s hands-free. To use Siri, I have to push the button on my phone, but because I am often cooking/baking, my hands are usually occupied. It’s nice to yell out and ask for the time OR request a podcast, which I listen to frequently. Yes — Echo will bring up the lastest episode of any podcast!

I also love that it will set a timer for me. After popping a cake in the oven, I can just yell, “Alexa, set a timer for 30 minutes” and walk away. We also use the speaker frequently to play music. So, for our simple needs, the Echo was well worth the $99.

7. It Cosmetics Brow Power Lift Pencil

This is a great pencil for highlighting your under eyebrow area. It’s precise, but creamy and blendable. The best I’ve ever tried!

That’s it for this month! I’d love to hear your favorite things from January, too!
